Born in 1999 in Mons (Belgium), Loris Douyez is attracted to music from an early age and began violin lessons at the age of 4. Since his first concert as a soloist, at the age of 7, he multiplies performances in Belgium and abroad during concerts and festivals: “Django Reinhardt” (Belgium), “Mons Past-Present” (Belgium), “Musica nelle Pievi” (Italy), “World Crossroads of Accordion (Canada), Accorde’Opale (France) Contemporaneamentefisarmonica (Italy), Novosibirsk Festival (Siberia)
Along with the violin, Loris decides, at the age of 9, to take accordion lessons in her father’s class. In 2014 he joined Arts2 (Royal Conservatory of Mons) as a “Young Talent” in the class of Daniel Rubenstein on violin and that of his father Olivier Douyez on accordion.
He has followed many masterclass violin with great teachers and soloists such as Jerrold Rubenstein, Ivry Gitlis and the accordion with Gorka Hermosa, Roman Jbanov, Massimiliano Pitocco, Frank Angelis, Renzo Ruggieri, Anibal Freire
Since 2015, Loris has been a member of Duo Douyez (violin-accordion duet with her father) and Quintette Hybris (classical accordion quintet).
Since 2018, he studied violin with Wibert Aerts, still at Arts2.
Loris has participated in numerous international competitions.
He is the winner of the PIF 2015 Junior category contest 15-18 years old in Castelfidardo, Italy.He won the 2nd prize of classical accordion, in the young talent category, at the international competition “accordons-nous.org” Mons, Belgium in April 2015.
Double 1st prize at the same competition in April 2017, Junior Classic category, and Junior Variety. 1st prize, two consecutive years, at the international competition “Stars Sancyberie” Auvergne, France in May 2015 and 2016.
1st prize also in the same competition in 2017, Junior Variety category.
1st prize category excellence, unanimous gold medal and trophy of Editions Basile in the contest “Accordé’Opale” France, May 2016.
In this same competition, he wins in 2017 the 1st prize Junior Variety, and the “Trophy Accordé’Opale 2017 ‘(1st Senior Classic Award).
Laureate of the 2017 Accordion World Trophy (France).
Loris is also a composer and received the composition prize for his work “Disco-Samba” in Auvergne and the Côte d’Opale.
In 2018, he won first prize at the International Competition of Alcobaça (Portugal), in the Classical Master category.
In 2019, he won the 3rd prize, Senior Classical category, at the first international accordion competition of Montceau-Les-Mines (France). He also won 1st prize in the Senior Classics category at the “Les étoiles Sancybérie” contest.
In the same year, he won the 1st prize in the world music category, in the company of pianist Simon Cogels, at the “accordéons-nous.org” international competition. In 2016, he created his group Pop where he played covers and original compositions on violin, electric violin and accordion, accompanied by a piano, a guitar / electric bass, and a drums.
In 2017, he founded with saxophonist Arnaud Scutnaire, Duo Stratos (accordion-saxophone). Together, they won 1st prize at the international competition of Alcobaça in 2018, and 3rd prize at the international competition “accordéons-nous.org”, in 2019.
Loris is currently studying composition at Arts2 in Claude Ledoux’s class.
