Mihail Mihaylov tenor

Mihail Mihaylov was born in 1987 in Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria. After studying the violin, he began singing lessons at the age of sixteen. He graduated from the National Music Academy of Sofia ‘Prof. Pantcho Vladigerov’, where he studied with Prof. Ivanka Ninova. Mihaylov has attended masterclasses with Christina Angelakova and Anna Tomowa-Sintow. 
Mihail Mihaylov made his opera début during his studies at the age of twenty-two when he played the part of Count Almaviva in Rossini’s The Barber of Seville. He also appeared in other bel canto tenor roles: as Edward Milford in La Cambiale di Matrimonio, as Ernesto in Don Pasquale.
Following his graduation from the Academy Mihaylov played Nemorino in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, Beppe in Donizetti’s Rita, Edgardo in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, Alfredo in Verdi’s La traviata, Duca di Mantova in Verdi’s Rigoletto, Fenton in Verdi’s Falstaff Count Camille de Rosillon in Lehár’s The Merry Widow, in most Bulgarian opera houses as well as in Macedonian Opera and Ballet.
Since 2012 the young tenor started gaining his oratorio experience as a regular guest soloist at Sofia Philharmonic where he sang the tenor solos in Mozart’s Missa da requiem, Rossini’s Stabat Mater, Camille Saint-Saëns’ Messe de Requiem, Schubert’s Mass No. 6 and Beethoven’s 9th Simphony. He also performed in Dvořák’s Requiem for Mihail Jora Philharmonic Orchestra Bacău, Romania; in Mendelssohn’s “Elias”and Dvořák’s Stabat mater for the Bulgarian National Radio Orchestra; in Verdi’s Requiem for Iași “Moldova” Philharmonic Orchestra, Romania and for the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, London, UK.
At the end of 2013, Mihaylov took part in a Verdi/Puccini Gala Concert with Munich Symphony Orchestra.
In 2013, 2014 and 2015 he performed at the prestigious German festivals “Klassik auf der Burg” and Herrenchiemsee Festspiele in “Ariadne auf Naxos” as Bacchus and in “Manon Lescaut” as Edmondo; at „Klassik am See”  in “La Traviata” as Alfredo and in “Rigoletto” as Duca di Mantova. In 2018 he appeared in Laval Opéra Festival (France) and Opernspiele Munot (Switzerland)

Mihaylov has performed in Royal Festival Hall, London (UK); Moscow Kremlin (Russia); Gasteig (Munich, Germany); Auditorio Nacional de Música (Madrid, Spain), Palau de la Música Catalana (Barcelona, Spain), Théâtre de Vevey (Switzerland), Osaka Festival Hall (Japan) and Teatro del Giglio in (Lucca, Italy).
Mihail Mihaylov holds a second prize from the IV International Competition for Chamber Music “Richard Strauss” (Sofia, Bulgaria, 2015) In 2015 he won the Grand prix at the International Song Competition “Romansiada” (Moscow, Russia). 
In July, 2017 Mihaylov is one of the 20 singers who reached the semi-final stage of the Placido Domingo’s competition Operalia. In 2018 he is a semi-finalist in Concours musical international de Montréal. 
Mihaylov has numerous recordings for the Bulgarian National Television and the Bulgarian National Radio.
